Help Is On Hand
We have a team of experts available during the event to answer your questions. Visit the “Contact” link above to send a message to our team. When you’re already inside the experience, click the “!” button to chat with a team member for live tech support.
Can’t find your friends?
We’ve set up many identical and parallel versions of the experience to simultaneously accommodate the thousands of students in the Class of 2020. To meet up with your friends, click on the “Share” button on the top of your screen, copy the link address, and send it to your friends so you all can meet up in the same place.
No Confirmation Email
There are three reasons you might not have the email. First, it might have been captured by your spam filter, so please check your Junk or Spam folders.
Second, you must use your NYU Net ID email and it must end with an “nyu.edu” domain. Schools with subdomain emails are permitted. (Example: XXXX@stern.nyu.edu)
Third, you must be a graduating member of the Class of 2020 as validated by the Registrar.
Stuck On Loading Screen
Because the environments have complex 3D models, the page might take some time to load. If you are getting stuck, try refreshing the page or try another browser or device.
Do I need headphones?
Headphones are not necessary but they make the experience much better. You can use headphones with your phone, tablet, or computer. (Some VR headsets have headphones integrated.)
If you are on a mobile phone, you may find audio quality and performance improves if you enter the room from a more powerful device, such as a computer. If that doesn’t work, check your internet connection and make sure it’s stable.
We recommend using headphones to reduce echoes. Sometimes, background noise can be heard through other guests’ microphones. In that case, you can mute or reduce the volume of other guests in their avatar menu.
Blank Landing Page
If you are using Internet Explorer, try opening up the website on another browser. Chrome and Firefox are recommended. If it doesn’t appear on other pages, try clearing your cache and cookies for that page.
Mic Not Working
First check whether your mic is properly plugged in, and that you’ve selected the right mic in the browser permissions (typically to the left of the address bar). If it is still not working, you may need to look in the privacy and security settings on your computer to ensure that mic permissions are not being blocked. If it still does not work, try in another browser. The platform works best in Firefox and Chrome, but it also runs on Edge, and desktop Safari.
If the mic is picking up your voice but it sounds distorted, check that you aren’t using a bluetooth headset mic, as these do not always work well with browser-based tools.
Webcam Not Working
Check whether your webcam is properly plugged in and make sure they have the right permissions to run in your browser (to the left of the address bar). If it is still not working, you may need to look in the privacy and security settings on your computer to make sure that permissions are not being blocked. The platform works best in Firefox and Chrome, but it also runs on Edge, and desktop Safari.
